Meet 1-year old yellow Lab Sage! She’s a high energy girl with a high toy (and treat) drive. Sage absolutely lives to retrieve her tennis ball and will jump with all 4 feet off the ground to catch a toss-up. She learned to catch a canvas frisbee in 5 tosses, and is an amazing athlete. While in foster care, Sage has learned to ride in a side-by-side (an off-road vehicle w/2 seats & 4 wheels), swim, play on a trampoline, and swing on a big web swing. Her basic obedience has also progressed quickly; she will now heel on leash, sit, is working on down, stay, wait, off, leave it, go in/go out. Sage also sleeps quietly in her crate overnight. She has come such a long way in such a short time! She’s super-smart and a very quick learner. She gets along well with her foster brothers, a German Shepherd and a Lab. Cats are unknown.

Sage would do well in a very active home – she would likely love and excel at agility training. On average, she and her foster Mom have been walking 30 to 40 miles per week on leash. Sage will do best in a home where someone can take her out for exercise several times every day and where she has an older, stable dog or dogs. While she is still slightly unsure when meeting new people or dogs, she is improving every day with continued socialization and practice, learning to relax more quickly around new people. Once she warms up to people, all Sage wants is to be a Lap puppy! She has been good with a preschooler child but needs supervision, as she is rambunctious. She’d do well with older kids.

Sage is a really great little Lab. She needs a moderately experienced handler to allow her to continue to learn basic obedience and excel in sport or work. She plays endlessly on land and in water and snuggles up sweetly. Sage is a 55 lb. packet of energy – with a big motor, a big heart, and who’s game for anything! She’s being fostered in English, IN.
