April 19, 2022 was a very sad day for me because that was the day my sweet CILRA Lab Kirby (Keejo) had to be put to sleep due to kidney failure. We had just celebrated Kirby’s 14th birthday in March. Kirby was the most wonderful, loving dog. He had an enthusiasm for life that was infectious. Kirby’s joyful presence made every day a good day. Kirby was my constant companion and best friend.
I am so grateful that I was able to adopt Kirby from CILRA in July of 2009. I was blessed to have him with me for nearly 13 years. He brought joy to every single day! Kirby will be missed so much, but he will always hold a special place in my heart. Rest and play at Rainbow Bridge sweet Kirby, until we meet again. And what a happy day that will be!
Thank you to Lori W. (Kirby’s foster mom), Jan C. and Daphene K. for being the outstanding CILRA volunteers who made it possible for Kirby to become my forever dog. Your time and devotion to CILRA is appreciated more than words can express.
I feel like I was the luckiest person ever because I got to adopt this intelligent, beautiful, loving dog. Rest in peace, sweet Kirby. Know that you were loved to the moon and back! Even through the tears, any thought of you makes me smile. You lived a beautiful life and you will live now and forever in my heart. Sincerely, Stephanie J. H.
