Say hello to Phoenix! This beautiful girl had a hard beginning in life. She’s only 2 years old, but had been used as a breeder Lab until being surrendered to CILRA. On arriving at her foster home, Phoenix was terrified of everyone and everything. But even though she lived her life until now in confinement, she is steadily coming out of her shell. Her foster mom says she has made huge improvements living in a home with humans and other pets. Phoenix regards her crate as her safe place and will rest in there even when the door is open. She is still very timid with new people or new surroundings. She will require a traditional fenced yard. Her romps in the yard with her foster doggie brother are getting more fun by the day! An ideal setting for her would be where someone is home most of the time and willing to commit to socializing her. Phoenix does well on ‘calm, quiet’ leash walks (where nothing is loud or startles her). Having a doggy friend in the home would also be helpful to teach her how to just relax and be a dog! She has shown no interest in the foster family’s cat. Because of Phoenix’s limited life experiences so far, a home with no small children is best. She was recently spayed and had all vaccines. She is really a diamond in the rough and will make someone a great family member! Phoenix is being fostered in Carmel, IN.
