Meet Coco, a beautiful 2 year old chocolate Lab who weighs 80 lbs. Her ideal weight is closer to 70 lbs., and she’s in the process of dieting to trim off that extra weight (we can relate!). Coco is a very social girl, and gets along well with other dogs but cats are an unknown. She has a strong personality, and does best with dogs who are a bit more submissive. She is housebroken, crate-trained, loves to play ball, go for car rides, and walks nicely on a leash with a prong collar. Coco has been trained on an electronic fence system and does very well at staying in her yard. She is a very energetic girl and needs an active family to keep up with her energy level. Her exuberance can be too much for toddlers and smaller children, so a family with older children would be best. Coco loves her treats and is very gentle when taking them. She went through 4 weeks of in-house kennel training where she learned the commands Sit, Paw, Stay, Down, Come, Wait and Heel. Such a clever girl! Since Coco is still young and had been mostly kept outside before being rescued, she need a little work on things like counter-surfing and jumping up, but she will master new manners very quickly. She is still very much like a playful goofy puppy, pulling on her foster Mom’s socks when she tries to get dressed, and grabbing squeaky toys to run around with, and, of course, the daily zoomies. Coco will make the right lucky family very happy! She is being fostered in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
