Just look at this handsome guy! Chance is a super-sweet yellow Lab mix weighing 80 lbs. and who is about 5-6 years old. He’s current on vaccinations and was recently neutered. CILRA stepped in to rescue Chance and his Lab mix brother after their young owner developed a terminal illness. Both dogs were used to being indoors and were very loved. Chance does really well with people; he’s very friendly and loves human interaction. He is housebroken, doesn’t need to be crated when no one is home (although he’s fine in a crate) and has lovely house manners. He does well on leash walks, but needs more training to not pull. Chance Loves road trips and rides in the car like a champ. He seems to be somewhat dog-selective, assuming a more alpha role with some dogs, so for right now he should be an only dog. We’ve not observed him around cats, but his previous owner had shared a photo of him with one. Chance was also known to be fine with slightly older children (middle-school age & older). He can be slightly unsure in new situations and could use some help from a family who will offer him time, patience and reassurance. Since his intake he’s been through a lot of upheaval and stress … many new places, people, animals, etc. He needs a spot where he can decompress, relax and reset, and so we can learn more about him. From what we’ve already seen, this boy will truly shine in the right environment. He’s currently in northern Illinois; transport help is available.
