Blondie is a beautiful, gentle yellow Lab who is looking for her forever home. She is 5 years old and weighs 63 lbs. She came from a breeder where she probably was not socialized to any extent or given any affection. But since being in her foster home, she’s quickly learning the joys of being petted by people, and playing with other dogs – and is coming out of her shell more each day. In fact, she’s become so comfy in her foster home, she’s started having little ‘conversations’ with her Foster Mom, which is incredibly endearing. Blondie’s ideal forever home would be a quiet one, with someone who is home much of the day and has 1 or 2 confident and out-going (but non-dominant) dogs who can show her how to be a dog again. A traditional fenced yard is a must, because Blondie has a very playful side. She especially enjoys the game of “keep-away” with the other dog at her foster home. She is a genuinely happy little Lab, and has a great time running around in the backyard — ears flopping, with a great big smile on her face! Blondie would probably be fine living with children who are slightly older, on the calm side, and not too rambunctious. Patience is key to bringing this sweet girl out of her shell – and will be So Very worth the effort! She is house-trained and does not need to be crated. Blondie is also learning to be a bit less timid while walking on leash. She is slowly but surely regaining her confidence that people will bring only love her way. She wags her tail when talked to sweetly and will nudge your hand when she wants a loving pet. In a patient and loving family, Blondie has enormous potential to blossom into a “Cinderella” of dogs. This wonderful girl is being fostered in the northern suburbs of Chicago.
