(2/24/10) Jasmine is a small Lab mix who is around 2 yrs old. She weighs around 30 lbs.  After Jasmine had puppies her owners sent her to a shelter where she was taken in by a rescue worker.  She is very sweet, loves people and loves being petted.  She can be a bit shy at first. She gets along with other dogs but will chase cats.  Jasmine turns into a wiggle worm when her foster comes home and loves to give doggie kisses.  She is fostered in Indianapolis.

(2/24/10) Charger is a Lab/shepherd mix but looks mostly like a black Lab.  He has the Lab temperament-loves everyone and is cat friendly.  He is 1 year old, his shots are up to date, he has been neutered and is house trained.  Charger lives in Avon, IN.  Anyone interested may contact Jessica Evans at 317-656-9050

(1/14/10)My husband rescued a Lab in southern Indiana on Interstate 64 close to Clarksville.

Sammy, is a female Lab mix. She is ~ 40 lbs, black and she has been spayed. She is very sweet and housebroken. She is awesome around other dogs and kids.  She is missing two toes on her front left paw but it is not an injury that disables her. She is active and walks and runs on this paw just fine. We do not know her vaccination status so if he is adopted he would need to get updated shots.

She is located in Fishers, IN. The contact info is Lneff@comcast.net or Scott Neff at 765-749-8822 or Lori Neff at 317-403-7442.

(12/28/09) Pookie is a black Lab mix who will celebrate being 7 years young on New Year's Day. He is a very friendly dog, loving to get attention. Now that maturity has kicked in, he isn't as playful around other dogs as he used to be but he loves long walks and is a great jogging partner. His lack of love for swimming is made up with his love of playing in the snow. Pookie loves his naps and will rise early to get the worm. Pookie prefers to be the only dog in his home so he will do best as the "only child". He has not been exposed to children so it may be better that he go to an adult home that is looking for a new best friend. His family has had him since he was a baby, but a change in their living situation has forced them to have to find a new home. He is located in Chicago, IL.  Please contact 773-425-3222 or mcm96@ymail.com for more information.
(11/3/09) My name is Duke and I am a 4 year old black male puppy trapped in the body of an 80 pound adult Lab. I love to run, play, fetch, snuggle and be a lap dog. I sometime have seizures, but they are completely under control by taking one pill twice a day so all is good. I need a loving home that can take me on long walks and be willing to give me my inexpensive medicine each day.  My family reluctantly needs to find me a new home as it has been very hard for them to give me the attention and play that is needed. If you'd like to meet me, I am located in the western suburbs of Chicago.  For more information on me, please call 630-935-0125 or kimberly.filip@gmail.com.

(7/23/09) My name is Layla.  I need a good home with a nice fenced in yard.  My owner, Linda, is moving into an apartment and cannot take me.  And her son, Brett, cannot take me into his apartment either.  I’m a good girl and love to give kisses, friendship, and lots of love. Am up to date with my shots, heart worm medicine, and I have been fixed.  Taking me for a walk would be hard because when I see something interesting, I usually run after it dragging you along.  Get along well with children.  I am used to being the only dog in the house.  I do bark at other critters and kids I don’t know that well. Guess that makes me protective (I think) of my family/yard.   Will get rid of moles in your yard if you have them.  As well as other critters.  Don’t do much digging in the yard.  But I am afraid of loud noises like thunder and fireworks.  Then I think I am a small lap dog sit or lay in your lap.  Or I will curl up with you in bed during a thunderstorm.  Will you mind that? Don’t like squeaky toys, will chew them apart to find the squeaker.  Just soft things to chew on like old jeans, gloves, towels, etc.  I also like cheese cubes and peanut butter.  Home baked goodies are a nice treat.   If you are interested in me, please give my owner, Linda Dennis, a call at 765-378-4350 or 765-606-1817 to get a time to see me and get to know me a little bit. Ok?

Sarah is a loving & sweet chocolate girl around the age of 7.  She has had a hard life as she was used to breed for many years.  Now that her old owners are done with her she is ready to live the good life with someone who will love her. Sarah is very eager to please.  In the short time that she has been in foster care she has been house broken, has learned to walk nicely on a leash and doesn't mind being in a crate.. She is a very smart little girl!  She plays well with other dogs but hasn't been tested with cats.  She loves car rides and is learning about toys.  The vet thinks she is about 5 years old but she may be around 7.  Sarah needs someone to love her as she will love them!

If you think that you could find it in your heart to love this girl and give her a good life please contact Shammy Johnson at #  573-406-7291.  She is being fostered in Hannibal MO.

Dearborn County Animal Shelter (6/11/09) Venus is a very smart, amazing and sweet female Lab mix who is 1 year old.  Venus gets along with most dogs. While she was in foster care, Venus showed great compassion to the child in the home. Venus prefers to be in a somewhere where a person is home a good part of the day as she prefers companionship instead of being confined for long periods. She is smart enough to escape from confinement! Obedience training would be a must for her as she loves to keep her mind working and staying busy. She is available for adoption at Dearborn County Animal Shelter in Southeastern Indiana. Please call the shelter at 812-926-0910 or email at velvetears.dcas@gmail.com.
Safe Haven of Iowa County (5/12/09) Princess is 1 year old white Lab mix. Sadly, she has lived on a chain most of her short life so she deserves to be with a family who will love her. Princess has not had any formal obedience training needs so her new family should be committed to helping her "learn the ropes". She loves human contact, playing, and is learning to walk on a leash.  She was recently spayed and she is up to date with all her shots. Princess is located in Williamsburg, Iowa. Please contact Safe Haven of Iowa County at 319-325-0150 or www.wesavepets.com for more information.

(2/10/09)Ace is a 10 month old, neutered male who has tested negative for heartworm and been fully vaccinated and micro chipped. He sadly was abandoned on a desolate road. He was seen being stripped of their collars and shoved out of a car door, being left with nothing but a bowl of food when the car drove off.  Luckily, a family on the street continued to feed him and allowed Ace to take refuge in their greenhouse during the horrible weather.  He has a delightful puppy personality and has done great with their crate training. Ace's personality is playful and curious.  He is good with kids and other dogs. If you are interested Ace, please contact Sharon, at (317) 902-4025 or sharon@fussyfelines.com
(2/10/09)Rufus is a 10-12 month old Chocolate Lab who is hoping for a family to call his own. Rufus is very sweet and eager to please. He is housebroken and knows basic commands. Dog, cat and kid friendly with no problems. Will be neutered and current on shots before he goes to a home. He was found stray and has been fostered for the last couple of months. For more information please email Slk1486@aol.com.

(1/29/09) Cookie is our 6 year old Lab/Boxer mix. She is 70 lbs., has all shots, is spayed, with no known health issues.  She is great with children and will need a yard to run in or be able to get regular walks for exercise. We are looking for a good home for her as we recently learned our young son is allergic to her.  She was rescued by us from the pound as a baby and needs one more home to fill with love. Please contact us at lmtuzzio@yahoo.com or 317-781-0521 if interested.
Anderson Animal Care and Control (1/13/09) Anderson Animal Care and Control received a little of four (5 week old) Golden Retriever/Lab pups on Friday. We are desperately looking for homes for these pups.  Due to their young age they are very susceptible to disease.  The shelter environment is extremely dangerous to their health. They need special attention and care during the next few weeks. If you are interested in fostering or adopting one of these babies please stop by 613 Dewey Street, Anderson, IN or email heather at heatherr@hrtc.net for an adoption application.
(12/19/08) Red is a 2 year old Lab who sadly was abandoned on farm. A good Samaritan took him in making certain he had all of his shots and treated for heartworm before going to a new home. Red is loving and playful and would like nothing better than to have a family give him their full attention. He is great with kids and loves belly scratches and slobbery kisses. As with most Labs, he loves water and tennis balls. The family caring for him already has 3 dogs so they are hoping to find a loving family who can exercise him regularly. Red is crated-trained, housebroken and rides well in the car. If you are interested, please email Heather at hw@qrot.net.
Hinsdale Humane Society (11/20/08) FRIENDS FOR LIFE candidates: If you are 65 years of age or older and adopt Satin and Velvet, we will waive the adoption fee! Satin and Velvet are sisters that have lived in the same home since puppies. As a result, they are almost inseparable, so we are hoping to place them into the same home, but will consider placing them separately, too. You can adopt them both of these great dogs for only $100! They are both very affectionate and will even give you kisses. They lived with a young child and were very tolerant of his antics. We have approved them for placement with children as young as five years of age. Satin & Velvet are housebroken and well-behaved in the home. Though they may jump up occasionally to greet you, they know basic commands and are usually very polite. Please contact Hinsdale Humane Society (www.hinsdalehumanesociety.org) at 630-323-5637.

Volunteer, Jefferson County Animal Shelter--Madison, Indiana (11/12/08) I'm Caesar. I'm a 1-3 year old male black lab mix. Some pictures of me are attached. They're guessing I'm mixed with a Collie breed...maybe Newfy. I have the happy, friendly lab personality. I'm a little rough around the edges because my owners didn't train me...and I'm not neutered. I was really calm (for a lab) when I came to the shelter. Now that I've been here a month, I'm getting antsy & somewhat pushy. I calm back down when someone takes me for a long walk. I'm not being adopted here. I know I'm adoptable. Would you give me a try?
