Just want you guys to know that
Miss Maggie
is doing well and filling out and loving every day with her
Mommy. We just joined the Lawrence (city) bark park..and use a
gentle leader for walks..She loves to “kick up her heels” and
run run run in the bark park!!!. Her Mommy lets her have treats
and when the weather gets better will start training lessons..
When she first arrived she slept a lot always all curled up
..but now she is a lot more confident and animated with her
mommy and her Mom’s family. She likes being the only dog in the
house..and no cats, by the way. Car rides around Fort Harrison
are fun (lots and lots of squirrels ) and of course the big park
is a GAS!!!..That’s where we do walking for the most part…She
saw her first set of deer ( and went WILD) Glad we were in the
car driving!! Anyway, she is coming out of her shell and
starting to love life again..Thank you very much CILR…Both her
Mommy (Angie Gilmer) and Miss Maggie Mae are so thrilled to be a
family. Thank you ..
Love
Angie and Miss Maggie Mae Gilmer

 Simon
has quickly become one of the family here in Terre Haute. As the
pictures show, he and Abby are great friends and love to play
and romp and run both IN the house and out in the yard! Simon
came to us at a whopping 113 lbs. but has lost weight with
increased activity and a diet. He's now a svelte 106 and walks
forward instead of waddling sideways as he did when we brought
him home. He is a BIG boy, but he's as gentle as can be. He paid
no particular attention to either cat (to their relief); in
fact, my six pound cat was walking under him by the second day!
Simon has moved into our lives and hearts quite effortlessly,
and the credit for that goes to the great people at CILRA.

 Hi,
We can't
believe it's already been four years since we adopted
Murphy.
As you may recall, at that time he was 142 pounds - one huge
Lab. We've worked hard to get him down to 112 pounds and the
vet thinks that is a pretty good weight for him because of his
large stature. We moved to Flathead Lake in Northwest Montana
in June of 2006. Murphy loves it up here as you can see from
the photographs. Murphy will soon be thirteen and has some
pretty severe arthritis. He has trouble chasing the deer now
but still loves to lay outside and smell. At the time we
adopted him, his Foster parent Sue told us Murphy was a
wonderful dog who had no issues. That was so true. He has been
such a joy. We're not sure how much longer he'll be around, but
we cherish every day that we are blessed with his companionship.
Best regards,
Diane and Mike |

Dear CILRA,
Lewis and
Carlo
want to thank you for the wonderful home you gave us with Sharon
Trusina and Gayle Obracanik.
Although we are both special needs dogs, we
are very well taken care of and are thriving. Thank you from
all of us for the wonderful match you made for us. Sharon and
Gayle call us God's Special Treasures.

Wrigley
is doing great - chewing a lot right now at almost 10 months.
He's been through Puppy training, Basic training, and we are
currently enrolled in Rally class. He loves the interaction and
usually performs very well on the course, especially for his
age. Many of the dogs in the class are older, but he completes
the course well, too.
Everyone calls him a Weimeraner. The Golden characteristics that
are most obvious to me are just a few long hairs on his ears and
he seems to have longer toes than I remember on both my labs. We
refer to him as the velcro dog, because he always has me in his
line of sight. He's had a few playmates, a Portuguese water dog,
we went for a walk (with the owner) and then he came back to our
house and they both plopped down on the kitchen floor and
rested. I've never had a dog have a dog friend over and come in
the house!!
His retriever genes have kicked in and retrieves nearly
everything, we're still working on the "release" command. He is
very sweet. He still loves to chew on sticks, branches, dried
leaves and plastic (loves the saran wrap roll) and is currently
enjoying escaping with the gift wrap rolls.
Have a very Merry Christmas! We're very thankful that Wrigley
has joined our family this year. He's a joy to have in our home.

 Hello
CILRA,
I just wanted
to give you all an update on our CILRA-adopted daughter
Reesie.
We adopted her in September, and she has quickly adjusted as a
wonderful member of the family. She has an older sister named
Roxy (husky/Lab mix) who was adopted from the Humane Society in
2004, and they spend all day playing together.
We are so thankful for Reesie, and could
not imagine life without her. She is known in the neighborhood
by all the kids as giving the best puppy-kisses in the whole
world.
Thank you for everything that you do to
keep these wonderful animals in loving homes.
Love,
Kristen, Nick, Roxy and Reesie |

 Dear
CILRA,
It has been 3.5
years since Happy
came into our lives and I've never sent an update. Happy has
been such a blessing to our family. My husband had never had an
indoor dog before we were married so our compromise was to
get an older dog and decided to go through CILRA and adopt.
Happy has been an absolute joy and is a big "daddy's girl." She
is happiest following us around the house and getting much
needed back scratches. Happy's life took a big change, however,
this past February when our next great love, baby Lucy,
arrived. She wasn't quite sure what to think of this baby that
was taking up mommy and daddy's time, but she has grown to love
Lucy and is very protective and caring. Now that Lucy is
crawling, Happy is so good and just lets her crawl and pet her
all over. We have been blessed to have Happy and thank you for
the wonderful opportunity in adopting such a wonderful dog.
I've attached several pictures of Happy with Lucy. Happy
Holidays!

Just
an update on "the yella 3." Left to right,
ZoeyJean
the Biscuit Queen and
Sir Winston
Wagsalot
are now 8 years old, and
Gypsy Doodle
Dandy
is 7. They're all doing great. Winston is still ornery and
goofy, but he's the happiest dog I've ever known. His
wag-a-matic tail never stops. He's as faithful as they come and
protective. He's always at my side and on guard, long after "the
girls" have gone up to bed at night. Gypsy is the best-behaved
dog in the world. She has never gotten into any trouble at all
in her 7 years. She loves to play fetch and swim. In the house,
she carries around her stuffed squeaky turkey until she falls
asleep with it. And ZoeyJean is still the queen of the dogs, the
one who sets the example of how they are to behave and always
does what she is told. Showing off to the others by being
obedient is her game. I couldn't be luckier! From our house to
yours, Merry Christmas! |

Hi,
We wanted to send an update on
Ali
or Ali Mali as we call her. She is the sweetest dog ever, and we
are very thankful to have her in our lives. She and Spencer, our
chocolate Lab, have adjusted to each other very well, so much so
that they have become inseparable!!! Our greatest adventure as a
family was our move to North Carolina in August, and what an
amazing trip it was!! Everyone was calm and very puzzled during
the long drive, and even more so when we arrived at our new
house and the realtor had forgotten to leave the key in 105
degree weather!! We are all settled in and everyone loves their
surroundings and life in warmer climates. Ali still gets very
excited every morning because we all go on a walk, nothing makes
her happier than being together as a family!!! Thanks so much
for all the work you do for these wonderful dogs!! We could not
have found a better sister for Spencer!!
Happy Holidays,
The Hoovers: Dan, Chris, Spencer and Ali Mali |
