Finnegan (or Finn) has an overabundance of energy and love for just the right owner. He knows the commands of sit, down, stay and heel, according to his present owner, who has run into financial difficulties and can no longer keep him. Finn will be turning 2 years old in November and is a very strong, large, young dog that will require immediate training. He can jump over a fence under 6' which is why he needs obedience training! He loves to chase balls and critters like squirrels. Finn is crate trained, good with other dogs but not sure about cats. Finn would not be suitable for a family with young children because of his exuberance. He has a sweet, loving "Marmaduke" personality. If you are up for a challenge and want to adopt a beautiful, loving dog, Finn might be just the right match! Finn is being fostered in the South suburbs of Chicago near the Indiana border.

Candace is a sweet 4 1/2 year old yellow female lab who weighs 85 lbs. She has a beautiful "english" labby head. Candace's owner surrendered her when she was not able to take care of her any longer. After a few days adjusting, she is doing great in her foster home. Candace is crate trained, but has great manners in the house and has been allowed to roam free during the day. She is still a very playful girl. She likes to fetch any toy and also chew on the occasional bone. Candace knows basic obedience commands like sit and down, but would probably benefit with some formal training in her new home. She loves to go on her daily walks and is very good on a leash. She gets along with her 2 labby foster sisters, but cats are unknown. Candace loves people. She has done great with kids of all ages. She is a big cuddle bug and would like nothing more than to lay at your feet when you watch TV or share a snuggle at bedtime. If you are looking for a sweet, loyal and loving companion, Candace fits the bill. She is fostered on the northside of Indianapolis in Noblesville.

Gunther is a 2 yr old black male whose family could no longer care for him. He gets along well with other dogs, cats and children. Gunther is a laid back boy who is about ten lbs overweight and could benefit from regular exercise. He needs work on leash walking but is very responsive. Gunther will need a traditional fenced in yard. He is always a happy boy with constant tail wagging. Oh, he loves to swim also! Gunther is fostered in Brazil, IN off of I-70 between Indianapolis and Terre Haute.

Honey is a 6-8 months old chocolate puppy. She is very active with puppy energy but walks very well on a lead. Coco loves to play with other dogs, gets along well with cats and is housetrained. She is a bit timid and shy on first meeting but warms up quickly. This sweet girl is fostered northwest of Indianapolis.

Rook is a very playful beautiful 6 year old black male who loves to be around people and other dogs.  So much in fact that we would like to see him placed where there is another dog.  Rook is housebroken and crate trained.  He loves to be with people so a family who is around a lot would be great.  Someone working part time for instance.  Rook loves to play with toys and playing tug of war with the rope toy is a favorite. His funny act is howling when he hears a fire engine siren!  Rook would prefer a traditional fenced in yard but being by his family is his greatest wish.  He is fostered on the Southside of Indianapolis.

Shayanne is a one year old black lab mix. We took her mom, who is a yellow female, and her sister in with Shay. Shayanne had a leg injury, had surgery and has completely recovered. She will have a limp but runs with the other dogs without a problem. It would not be in her best interest to be a dog for a runner. However, walks are great! Shayanne gets along great with other dogs, and she is fine with cats. She will chase at times but never to harm. She weighs about 55 lbs, is crate trained and housebroken. Shay loves to have belly pets and is a very loving girl in return. She would be good with children. Shay is used to a fenced in yard and would like that in her adoptive home. She is fostered northwest of Indianapolis.

Angel is a special needs girl who is very special. It seems that she was crated in a very small crate her whole life, since her growth was altered due to the inability to stand. Angel has a great personality and the most wonderful disposition possible! She was in a back yard locked in a crate that was way too small for her, with no food or water in 90 degree weather. CILRA was able to take her in with the support of her foster home. It wasn’t long until we found out that she needed a lot of medical help just to allow her to walk again. Since having surgeries, she is now becoming more mobile every day, along with the help of her foster mom, who does range of motion exercises on her back legs 3 time per day (mostly just stretching the tendons in her legs). Although she won’t win any races, she does try. Angel will need a home that can give her all the tender loving care she deserves. Angel is crate trained, even though it isn’t needed, house trained (barks when she needs to go outside), knows the basic commands of sit, stay and give paw. She loves being with adults, children, cats and other dogs. Her Foster mom believes Angel would really flourish if she had another dog in the house. If you are ready to have your heart melt please let us know. She is being fostered in Yorkville , IL.

Max is a wonderful yellow/white lab. He is about 5 years old and well behaved. Max is a very social boy that LOVES to be with people, children and other dogs. He is currently living with three children ages ranging from 2 to 8 years old, along with another lab. Max enjoys a game of ball, a long walk or a car ride anytime you feel like it. He will also lay near you if you are watching tv or reading a book. A family found him running free two years ago. He was given to yet another family. They soon found that having two dogs was too much for their situation. He is being fostered in the South Suburbs of Chicago.

Maggie is a beautiful 8 yr old black female who is as sweet as she can be.  She gets along well with all of the other dogs in her foster home and loves to watch and "slowly" chase a cat.  She should be fine in a home with only 1 or 2 cats.  Maggie was an outside dog so is learning her inside manners very quickly.  She has an old injury on her front ankle which causes a very slight limp but does not require any treatment.  She can takes walks easily but  would not be one to go on runs or chase a Frisbee.  She enjoys a good chew bone and sleeps on the floor in the bedroom at night.  Maggie will make a wonderful lab for a family who wants a dog to hug on.  She is fostered northwest of Indianapolis.

My name is Joe and I am a 3 year old black male Lab. I like to think I'm a good catch because I am good with other dogs, have great positive energy, love walks and flop around in the baby pool on hot days.  I am house trained and do not need to be crated.  Like many dogs, thunderstorms have been known to make me uneasy but I can be soothed by getting petted.  Did I mention I am very quiet and rarely bark?  My foster mom and dad let me sleep on the bedroom floor at night and no one even knows I am there.  CILRA is adopting me as a special needs Lab because I came to them with an injury to my "hock" that does not need to be repaired, but sometimes I take it easy and just want to give my foot a rest.  You wouldn't even know it as it makes no difference to me and how much I will love you.  I am fostered just west of Chicago.

Buddy is 9.5 yr old and was taken to a shelter when his family divorced and neither party could keep him.  He was depressed as expected and is now doing very well in his CILRA foster home.  Buddy loves children, other dogs of all ages and cats.  He is a settled and laid back Lab.  Buddy is overweight possibly due to inactivity so a regular walking plan would be good for him.  He is housebroken, walks well on a leash and knows "sit".  This lovely boy is fostered in Columbia City northwest of Ft. Wayne.

Martini is a beautiful, friendly 9 month old purebred yellow spayed female who came to CILRA because the owners did not have enough time to give her. She is a typical 67 lb young Lab, who likes to play with the other Labs at her foster home and, of course, fetch the tennis ball!  She especially likes to play with Carly, who is also up for adoption. Martini is housebroken and crate trained. She is learning to walk on a leash without pulling… much! She has gone to puppy obedience school, knows basic commands and is working on not jumping up on people when greeting them.  Her former owner used the gentle leader on their walks.  Martini is only 9 months old and everything is new and exciting! She is being fostered north of the Twin Cities in Minnesota.

Carly is a year and a half year old black female Lab mix. She was taken in by a good Samaritan who found her on their door step and looked like she had been on her own for quite some time. She was taken to a vet, declared healthy but underweight. She was housed with two other dogs, three cats and a 4-5yr old child during an extensive search for the owner prior to coming to CILRA.  Carly is a petite girl, around 55 pounds, and is sweet as can be. She is shy at first but loves to snuggle.  Being young she is very energetic and enjoys being with the 6 other dogs at her foster home and she enjoys the water. Carly would love a large fenced in yard with some room to run . She is house and crate trained and is learning to walk on a lead without pulling. She loves to ride in the car and would try to drive if you let her. She is very smart and learns quickly. Some of her known commands are, sit, stay, out, NO, and she is learning down. She would be fantastic at agility or flyball.  She is being fostered north of the Twin Cities in Minnesota.

Misty is a sweet and loving special needs girl.  She is a 76 lb, 3-4 year old yellow Lab who is housebroken and crate trained.  Misty’s favorite thing to do is sit with people and be petted, her second favorite thing to do is lay in a patch of sun in the back yard.  Misty is not an overly active dog.  She is good with young children, other dogs, birds and a guinea pig.  She has never paid any attention to the birds or pig and gets along well with everyone else.  Cats are an unknown.  She enjoys walks on leash but may pull a little, she knows basic commands, and will come when called.  She would be best placed in a home with a fence.  Misty has been diagnosed with allergies and treated.  Her ongoing treatment will include monthly shots and possibly antihistamines given seasonally.  She has been in foster care since October 2009, while being diagnosed and treated for the allergies.  Her foster home thinks she has been a great house guest and wish they had the room to keep her.  She would make a great addition to the right family.  Misty is being fostered in the Western Suburbs of Chicago.

* Adopted * My name is Sam and I’m a 1 ½ yr old male who is looking for an active family to call my own.  I’ve been an outside dog for the past year, but I’m learning to enjoy being a house dog.  I would like a family who will take me to a basic obedience class, because I’m really smart and catch on to things quickly.  Cats are welcome…as long as they don’t mind a good sniff from me, but I promise I won’t hurt them.  If you’re looking for a happy-go-lucky guy with energy to burn, I’m your man!  I am fostered northwest of Indianapolis. Come visit me and bring a ball – I’m learning to play.

*Adopted* Brinkly is a 6 yr old chocolate lab who came to CILRA due to a divorce. He is very calm boy and is good with children. He is crate trained and housebroken. Brinkly could use some work with leash walking. He likes to retrieve and will get excited when someone comes to the home, running to find something to put in his mouth and greet the visitor. Brinkly gets along well with dogs and cats. Brinkly will require a fence. He is just a great lab and should be a wonderful addition to any family. He is fostered on the southside of Indianapolis.

*Adopted*Kelsey is a wonderful 9 year old female chocolate Lab. Due to a change in her family situation, Kelsey has had to find a new home.  She is a sweet, easy going, very gentle gal-housetrained, crate trained (doesn't need it), loves other dogs and people.  Kelsey likes to go for walks and car rides-she wants to be with her family.  Come meet her-you will instantly fall in love with Kelsey.  She is fostered in Brazil, In., a little over an hour west of Indy.

*Adopted*Barney is the cutest and comical little pup. He is about 4 months old now. Barney is crate trained and very close to being house trained. He walks well on a lead and loves to be outside and play in the yard. His fosters are working to teach him word commands such as sit and stay. He is very smart and learns quickly. Living with another dog would be great so he has someone to give him the lead in life. Barney is a bit afraid of loud noises such as fireworks. He will need a traditional fenced in yard. Barney is fostered in Darlington, IN northwest of Indianapolis.

*Adopted* B.J. is a sweet little Lab 7.5 months old.  She weighs 35 lbs.  She is a Lab.  I compare her with a miniature horse - small but a horse.  B.J. loves water.  She can be a messy drinker as she loves to put her whole snout down into the water.  Once her stitches are out from her spay we are going to see if she likes to swim. B.J. is a typical lively pup but not hyper at all.  She is housebroken and crate trained.  We crate her when we are gone but not at night. She gets along fine with cats with a little chasing.  B.J. came to CILRA after the sudden death of her young owner. She had been well cared for.  If you are looking for a Lab but really want a small dog B.J. is for you.  She is fostered northwest of Indianapolis.

*Adopted* Roxie is a a very sweet 2 yr old chocolate female.  She is on the smaller size currently weighing about 45 lbs.  She may fill out a bit more as she ages.  Roxie is house trained, crate trained and walks well on a lead.  She gets along well with other dogs of all ages.  Roxie loves to play with children and she is an excellent swimmer.  She loves to go for a walk that takes her to the lake for her to jump in.  This lovely girl is fostered in Brazil, IN which is west of Indianapolis right off of I-70.
*Adopted*Allow me to introduce you to Maddie, who was surrendered because of the economy and has been in several different homes before CILRA took him in. Maddie is a 70 pound 3 year old neutered yellow male. Up to date on his shots and in good health, just recovering from ACL surgery on his left rear leg. It was learned that he had a prior ACL tear, but it was unsure of which leg or how long ago. After a bit of investigating and Vet's visit it was found that Maddie had a torn the ACL in his left rear leg, and well on his way to a full recovery. Maddie is wonderfully behaved and very much on the mellow side. He loves to play with other dogs, however his playtime is very limited now due to his recovery. He gets along well with my house cat too! Maddie walks well on a leash, but will pull when he sees something of interest...bunny, duck, squirrel! When he is off leash, he will come when called, sometimes with a little lag time-but he does listen. I feel that he would be a very trainable dog...he loves to please people. He has done well with all of the people that he has met...both young and old. He is currently left outside into a fully fenced yard. He has been left on his own with the full run of the house for up to 10 hours with no accidents or misbehavior, and he is crate trained if need be. He is not found of walking on hard-wood or slick floors nor does he like walking up stairs---carpeted or not. It took him awhile to warm up to walking on them, up or down. Maddie is fostered on the west side of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

*Adopted*Mia is a 3 year old female yellow Lab with lots of love to give.  Since she is still a young girl, she has lots of energy to burn.  Her favorite way do this is by fetching her tennis ball in the yard.  She would be happy to do this all day long.  Mia will need a traditional fenced yard.  She is crate trained, but has great manners in the house.  Mia is very smart and has been through obedience training.  She knows sit, down, stay and shake.  She walks great on a leash and obeys the heel command very well.   Mia sleeps on her dog bed with her foster parents at night, but she would love to share a snuggle plus some kisses.  She gets along great with her two fosters sisters and has been ok with cats in the past.  Since she is energetic, she would do better in a house with children over 10 yrs old.   This sweet Labby girl is fostered on the north side of Indianapolis in Noblesville.

*Adopted*Matilda is a wonderful 1 yr old yellow female Lab who acts older than she is.  She was surrendered to CILRA because her owner did not have time for her and she had a lot of crate time.  Now that Matilda gets plenty of good exercise and gets to swim once a day she no longer requires being in a crate.  She gets along great with other dogs and just chases the cats a little.  She would be good with children perhaps older than age 4 since she is a pretty good size.  Matilda will require a regular fenced yard and preferably a family who can give her regular walks and exercise.  She is still a puppy but a pretty calm one.  Matilda is fostered northwest of Indianapolis.

*Adopted*Tyler is a honey.  Honey describes his color and his disposition.  Tyler is a neutered, yellow/white male, approximately a year old. He was found as a stray in northern Indiana. Tyler is housebroken and kennel trained.  He will sit on command.  Tyler is very smart, easy going and wants to please.  He wants to be right by your side.  He walks well on a leash and is always looking back to see if you are coming. He gets along with the other 2 Labs in his foster home and loves to run and chase balls.  He does like to chase the cat when she comes out of hiding, but responds well to no and seems to understand what that means. Tyler is good with grandchildren ages 3, 6, & 14yrs.  Tyler is fostered in Noblesville, IN.

*Adopted*Patsy is a sweet & shy little 2yr yellow girl. She was found hungry and scared in a horse stable in Southern IL.  Patsy is a calm, gentle girl that adores people and attention.  She gets along with her Lab foster brother & sister, loves to lay by her Foster Mom & Dad's feet and prefers to be in the house rather than outside.  Patsy is just starting to get comfortable in her foster home so we will have more info soon.  She is being fostered in the Western Suburbs of IL.

*Adopted*Koda is  a 1.5 yrs old male who has a wonderful temperament.  He is housebroken and crate trained.  He loves to sleep on the bed at night.  Koda is great with other dogs and fine with cats.  He should be good with children also.  Koda will need a traditional fenced in yard as he will wander to find people.  He takes treats nicely and walks pretty well on a lead.  Koda is a beautiful boy and is fostered northwest of Indianapolis.

*Adopted*My name is Quincy and I am a large black male Lab about 1-1/2 years old.  I am sweet, gentle and loving.  I adore children and I get along with my two foster brothers.  I am housebroken and I sleep in my crate at night.  I listen to basic commands like sit, come, down and stay when I feel like it.  I am learning to play with toys and balls.  I have been living on my own for a while and I am looking for someone to take care of me and love me.  I am being fostered in Northern Illinois.

*Adopted*Sammie is a cute love bug! She is a very excited 5 year old Chocolate Lab with a happy personality. She has lived with one owner her entire life but due to a change in her family situation, Sammie is in need of a new forever home. She is housebroken and crate trained. She knows basic commands and likes to play catch with a tennis ball. Sammie would do best in a home with older children or adults because she gets excited and may knock over a small child. A home without cats is recommended unless the cats don't mind being chased! She would thrive in a home where she could get a lot of attention, companionship, pets and love. Some basic obedience training would benefit Sammie and her new family. She walks well on a leash and loves to be with people. Sammie is fostered in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago.
